Like many breeds like as with many other breeds, the Cane Corso can be a dog that may be prone to problems with behavior If not properly trained when it is a puppy. It is not advised to take on a dog of this breed in case you are not used to the world of owning puppies. The most common problems include:
Barking excessively
It is vital to point out that there is no reason to think that all barking is harmful. It's a fantastic way to warn owners of danger or warning of a suspicious person that is about. However, a dog that continuously barks for no reason, needs to be managed in some way.
- If you get home, don't immediately go to them. Make sure they know that you will not give them a reward for their barking. Once they've calmed down, you are able to go to them.
- In the event that you're Cane Corso barks whenever your phone rings instruct your pet to not bother with it. You should have someone repeatedly call you and not return the call. This will cause your dog to become bored with the noise.
- It is possible to reward your dog when they stop barking, with treats. If you tell them "quiet" and they stop barking, offer them treats. They'll naturally think that their behavior is good receiving a treat.
Then jumping on people
If the it's still a Cane Corso Puppy, watching them run up to you and show their excitement toward you is cute. But, if this behavior isn't addressed at an early age, when your dog is a puppy the behavior will not be as adorable.
- The trick is to not be excited to look at them. You may be excited to see your dog, but be calm when greeting them.
- Do not make eye contact with them and then turn your body away from them to ensure they slide away and don't hold you when they leap up.
- After they have settled down then praise them and offer them treats if you are a fan.
Dog food aggression
If you feed the Cane Corso their food They could turn their backs on you and growl when they try to defend their bowl of food. This is known as the dog's food aggression. It doesn't mean that they've suddenly turned on you, rather they're simply overprotecting their possessions.
- It is crucial to let them know who is the authority. One method you can employ is to set the food bowl that is empty. You are then in charge and you can decide when you will complete the filling. It's easy to fill it up slowly.
- It is also possible to walk past their bowl of food every so often and offer treats. Your dog will then greet you when they come to eat.
Biting
It's normal in puppies that they bite particularly in the time they're in the process of teething. If, however, the adult Cane Corso continues to have issues with biting people it is your responsibility to intervene.
- If your pet is playing with them, immediately and clearly inform them "no" and replace yourself with chew toys.
- You can also inform them to get away, based on the surrounding. If they were playing with you and then suddenly you're not with them in order to be with them they'll be able to see that their behavior was not acceptable. The punishment will make them sad and they'll be reluctant to repeat the same mistake.
